After joining the Knights as an assistant coach in August 2008, Evan Osteen helped guide UCF to one of the top campaigns in program history. The Knights won four tournament titles in 2008-09 and capped the year by participating in the NCAA Championship.
UCF tied for 10th out of 30 squads at the championship at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. The team earned a berth in the event by claiming the title at the NCAA Regional in Sorrento, Fla. Osteen helped the Knights conclude the campaign ranked 15th nationally.
In addition to recording the win at the NCAA Regional, UCF also was victorious at the Conference USA Championship, the Rio Pinar Invitational and The Hummingbird Intercollegiate.
Osteen worked with several Knights who garnered individual honors, including Blayne Barber, who garnered national all-freshman team honors. He was also recognized as the C-USA Golfer and Freshman of the Year.
Prior to joining the Knights, Osteen assisted with operations at the Pablo Creek Golf Club in Jacksonville, where he also worked for AXA advisors as a financial professional. Osteen also has experience working for Toll Brothers, serving as a sales associate for the home builder.
Osteen graduated from North Florida in 2005 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in business administration. He competed in eight events during his time with the Ospreys.
He began his collegiate career at Central Alabama Community College. While at Central Alabama, Osteen helped his squad claim three tournament titles in 2001, and also post a second-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championship. Osteen recorded three top-five tournament showings during the 2000-01 campaign and also finished in the top 25 at the national championship.
During his time at North Florida, Osteen worked at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach.
In 2002, Osteen played in the U.S. Amateur in Michigan. That year he also tied for 11th at the Rice Planters Invitational and registered a top-30 finish at the Palmetto Amateur.
Osteen has experience serving as an instructor with the PGA TOUR[apos]s First Tee Program and the Florida Collegiate Golf Coaches Camp.
He graduated from Kings Mountain High School in Kings Mountain, N.C., in 2000. While in high school, Osteen was an all-conference performer in golf, football and soccer.
