Dr. Michael Redd was appointed as the founding Director of Sport Science for the UCF Athletics Association in 2018. The Sports and Exercise Science Initiative was signed and created a partnership between UCF Athletics and the UCF School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, to enhance the well-being and performance of the university’s student-athletes.
Redd is currently a faculty lecturer in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at UCF. He received his PhD in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida under Dr. Jeffrey Stout and Dr. David Fukuda. Michael’s research is focused on physiological and performance adaptations following various training modalities in athletes. His role as Director of Sport Science allows him to work with the university’s strength and conditioning coaches in athlete monitoring as well as program design.
Redd has worked in athletics as both a sport coach and a strength and conditioning coach for over 20 years. In addition to coordinating the university’s resources for athlete assessment he is currently working on developing appropriate monitoring protocols for the student athletes at UCF.
