David Hansen currently serves as UCF senior executive associate athletics director and chief operating officer following his promotion to executive associate athletics director in January 2016. Hansen's primary duties include oversight of UCF athletics facility development, home event management and procurement, while providing oversight of two Knights athletics teams. He originally joined UCF as senior associate athletics director for internal operations in June 2006.
Hansen directs the athletics facility master planning process and serves on UCF's master planning committee. Under Hansen’s direction, UCF Athletics has completed building projects totaling more than $100 million. The athletics facility plan calls for continued aggressive development in the near future.
Hansen serves as a sport administrator for the Knights' baseball and rowing programs, and assists with the football program. He has served as institutional bowl representative for UCF’s participation in 11 bowl games since 2007, including the 2014 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and 2019 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. While at UCF, Hansen directed and developed the operational plan in support of on-campus football, including the construction of Bright House Networks Stadium. He also negotiated an agreement with the Gaelic Athletic Association and directed operational efforts for the 2014 football game versus Penn State at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
Prior to joining the UCF staff, Hansen served as deputy director of athletics at the University of Southern Mississippi. Hansen was the Golden Eagles' chief operating and financial officer and also directed all facility projects while overseeing multiple sport programs. Hansen arrived at Southern Miss in 1999 as the school's associate athletics director for internal affairs. In 2003, he was promoted to senior associate athletics director and two years later became the Golden Eagles' deputy director of athletics.
Before moving to Southern Mississippi, Hansen worked at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as the assistant athletics director for internal operations. He originally joined the Louisiana-Monroe staff in 1994 as director of facilities and football operations.
A native of Gainesville and a 1992 graduate of the University of Florida, he worked at his alma mater as a football student assistant from 1989-92 and football staff assistant from 1992-94. In 1990, Hansen spent time as an operations/sales assistant for the Blockbuster Bowl in South Florida.
Hansen and his wife Trudy have four children--Kevin, Casey, Brian and Sean. The Hansens reside in Oviedo.
