Dave Ellis joined the UCF men[apos]s golf program as an assistant coach in December 2013. A former collegiate standout at Michigan State, Ellis was a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
During his first year with the program, Ellis helped lead the Knights to a No. 6 final Golfstat ranking for the 2013-14 season. He also helped coach the team to a runner-up finish at the American Athletic Conference Championship. Ellis contributed to Greg Eason[apos]s All-America and American Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, as well.
Ellis was a four-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a four-time letter winner at Michigan State. In addition, he was honored with the Spartans[apos] most prestigious accolade -- The President[apos]s Award -- which honors the MSU graduating senior with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
Ellis comes to UCF after beginning his professional career with The ANVIL Group in Tampa, where he served as an Account Support Manager. He has also served as a registered basketball official with the Florida High School Athletic Association.
During his collegiate golf career, Ellis was a three-time captain of the Spartans. He played in the Big Ten Championship three times, finishing in the Top 20 in 2012. Playing on the junior circuit, he won the 2007 Michigan Junior Amateur.
Ellis was also involved with several community service projects during his undergraduate career. He also has experience as a junior golf instructor.
A May 2013 graduate of Michigan State, Ellis holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in Finance.
