Corrie McGrath enters her second season as an assistant coach with the UCF women[apos]s rowing team. Her responsibilites include coaching the novice team as well as assisting head coach Leeanne Crain with recruiting.
In her first season with the Golden Knights, she guided the lightweight squad to head-to-head victories over Stanford, Bucknell, MIT and Wisconsin. The team also finished fifth at the IRA Championship.
McGrath came to Orlando with two years of coaching experience at the Everett Rowing Association in Everett, Wash. Drawn back to the club where she began as a junior rower, McGrath served as ERA[apos]s lightweight varsity coach, assistant varsity coach and novice coach during those two years, while coaching with the masters team throughout. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, she also served as the Adult Program Development Coordinator.
During the summers of 2003 and 2004, McGrath coached at the George Pocock Rowing Foundation, where she worked with a wide variety of athletes including the L.E.E.P. program, the Orion House and the Special Olympics.
In May 2003, McGrath graduated from Washington State, where she was a four-year letterwinner on the rowing team. She garnered CRCA All-West Region First Team honors four times, was selected to the CRCA All-American Second Team, earned a Pac-10 Conference First Team selection, as well as a Pac-10 All-American First Team pick. She spent the summer of 2002 participating in the USRowing Women[apos]s National Team Pre-Elite and Development camp. In 2002, McGrath rowed in the 10th-ranked varsity eight at the NCAA Championship and was a member of the first team from WSU to earn a bid to NCAA[apos]s in 2003. She continued to row after college and in 2004, stroked the Lake Washington club eight to victory at the Head of the Charles.
McGrath received a USRowing Level III certification in 2005, and completed the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Education Program in 2002. She holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in psychology from Washington State and currently serves on the CRCA lightweight committee.
