Ben Cousins joined UCF Athletics in January 2024 as the assistant athletics director of facilities, events & operations.
Cousins arrives in Orlando from Stetson University, where he spent five years, including his last two as the associate AD of facilities, events & operations. In his role, he worked closely with the university on capital projects, specifically the Edmunds Center. Cousins served as the tournament director for all ASUN tournaments hosted at Stetson, while also serving as the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s tennis programs, as well as women’s soccer. He served on the emergency management team and 10-year campus master planning committee.
Prior to his time at Stetson, Cousins spent two years at University of North Florida, where he served as the assistant director of facilities and operations. Responsibilities including facility and game management for all of UNF’s 18 NCAA Division I sports. Also, he managed the budget for game day operations. Other responsibilities included working on various projects including scoreboard repairs and facility renovations, such as resurfacing of UNF tennis courts and pressbox/turf install at the UNF Softball Complex.
Cousins, a native of Bennettsville, S.C., got his start in collegiate athletics at Florida Gulf Coast in 2016, where he served as facility manager for the FGCU baseball, soccer and softball complexes, primarily focusing on grounds and turf maintenance. Also, assisted with event management.
His other experience includes serving as the operations manager for the Tailgate Guys where he managed day-to-day logistical operations, inventory control, payroll, operations budgets, staff supervision and equipment rental, in addition to other duties.
Cousins received his bachelor's degree in business management from Francis Marion University in 2008. In 2015, he earned a second bachelor's degree in recreation and sport management from Coastal Carolina and completed his master's in educational leadership from UNF in 2019.
Cousins currently resides in DeLand. He is married to Stetson University head softball coach Shellie Cousins. They have one child, Robinson, and a second child, Nellie, due in April.
