Dr. Andrew Sims enters his first season with UCF, after spending the previous two seasons at the University of Arizona. Prior to his time in Tucson, Sims worked at Nebraska for four seasons. He now served as Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations at UA, after serving as the Director of Football Operations in 2023.
In his role with the Knights, Sims plays a leading role in the day-to-day operations of the football program.
Sims will also serve as a liaison with other units within the athletic department and directs the budget, team travel and summer camps and clinics, along with numerous other duties associated with the Wildcats football program, its coaches, and student-athletes.
Sims was hired by Nebraska after spending two seasons at Southern Miss. He served as the Golden Eagles' director of social media/on-campus recruiting in 2017 before transitioning to the role of executive to the head football coach in 2018.
Previously, Sims spent four years at East Tennessee State. He was the Buccaneers' graduate assistant for recruiting/football operations for two years before moving into a full-time role as director of football operations for two seasons. At ETSU, Sims was responsible for all operations of the football program internally and externally, as well as travel, budget, compliance, academic development and recruiting.
Sims spent two seasons as a recruiting intern at Indiana from 2010 to 2012. He earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology, sport marketing and management from Indiana in 2012. Sims earned his master's degree in business administration from East Tennessee State in 2015 and a doctorate in education from ETSU in 2019.
He and his wife Rachel have a daughter, Adelaine, and a son, Rex.
