Dr. Andrew Sims is in his first season as Chief of Staff for the UCF Football program.
In his role with the Knights, Sims plays a leading role in the day-to-day operations of the football program. He also serves as a liaison with other units within the athletic department and oversees the budget, team travel, summer camps and clinics, along with numerous other responsibilities associated with the football program, its coaches, and student-athletes.
Before arriving in Orlando, Sims spent the previous two seasons at the University of Arizona. While at UA, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations, after holding the position of Director of Football Operations in 2023.
Prior to his time in Tucson, Sims spent four seasons at Nebraska, working under head coach Scott Frost. He was hired by Nebraska following two seasons at Southern Miss, where he served as Director of Social Media/On-Campus Recruiting in 2017 before transitioning to the role of Executive to the Head Football Coach in 2018.
Earlier in his career, Sims spent four years at East Tennessee State. He served as the Buccaneers’ Graduate Assistant for Recruiting/Football Operations for two years before being promoted to Director of Football Operations, a role he held for two seasons. At ETSU, he managed all internal and external football operations, including travel, budget, compliance, academic development, and recruiting.
Sims began his career as a recruiting intern at Indiana, where he worked from 2010 to 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, sport marketing and management from Indiana in 2012, a master’s degree in business administration from East Tennessee State in 2015, and a doctorate in education from ETSU in 2019.
He and his wife, Rachel, have a daughter, Adelaine, and a son, Rex.
