Koerner is in her first year as a member of the Golden Knights track and field staff.
Koerner comes to UCF with an impressive background as an athlete, coach and administrator. She most recently served as a volunteer track and field coach at her alma mater Nebraska, where she assisted in the development of the pole vaulters, long jumpers and multi-event athletes.
Also at Nebraska, she assisted the Husker Facilities Design Team and volunteered with the athletic department[apos]s an outreach activity program.
During the fall of 2004, Koerner was a member of the U.S. Bobsled Team in Lake Placid, N.Y. and when not training, aided the office of sports marketing and operations at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Koerner has also served as an instructor at Rick Attig[apos]s Elite Speed and Pole Vault Camp and assisted the track and field staff at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in her hometown of Sioux City, Iowa.
A four-year letterwinner in track and field at Nebraska, Koerner captured two Big XII titles and qualified for the NCAA National Championship six times. She received all-region honors in the pole vault during her junior and senior year and broke the school record twice. She also competed in the heptathlon.
Koerner excelled off the field as well, earning a spot on the Big XII Commissioner[apos]s Academic Honor Roll and the Big XII All-Academic Team.
Koerner also enjoys being active in the community. In the past, she has volunteered her time with Nebraska[apos]s Read to Win Program, Meals on Wheels and Special Olympics. She received a bachelor[apos]s of science degree in psychology from Nebraska in 2005.
