Alex Clough enters his first year as an assistant director for the UCF Strategic Communications Department after being promoted from a staff assistant position following three seasons. Clough will serve as the primary contact for the volleyball and men's golf programs.
During his early tenure in collegiate athletics, Clough oversaw the publicity efforts for multiple programs, including the growth of each team’s presence on social media. He handles the production of releases and feature stories on the website, along with media requests and statistical operations. Clough served as an intern from August of 2021 until eventually being elevated to a communications assistant in 2023, where he worked with both cross country/track and field and men's tennis, before adding women's tennis in 2024.
While working with the track and field program, Clough aided in the promotion of its 2023 Indoor and Outdoor American Athletic Conference Championships, along with traveling with the team to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, where four athletes garnered All-America honors. In the program's early years in the Big 12, the squad secured four individual event titles during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns.
Most recently, he served as the communications representative for the 2025 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament Orlando Regional, where the Knights punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. Clough promoted UCF's first Big 12 team title as the women's tennis team claimed a share of the 2025 regular season crown.
Clough has aided in statistical operations for both basketball and soccer programs, along with volleyball and baseball. In 2023, he served as a caller on a four-person stat crew for the first and second rounds of the NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Tournament in Orlando.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Clough graduated from the University of Central Florida in December of 2024 with a bachelor's degree in human communication and a minor in sports business management.
Clough’s family resides in England and France, and he is an avid soccer fan, having watched his favorite club, Arsenal, on seven occasions, both at home and abroad.
