Sara Hurwitch became the first signee for UCF coach Emilee Klein, committing to the program just weeks after Klein took over as head coach. She was a successful junior player and will look to break into the lineup early in her college career.
Spring 2007: Earned second-team All-Conference USA honors and was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year following the league championship ... Competed in the Florida State Championship finishing in a tie for 6th place...Finished in a tie for 24th place in both The Gator Invitational and The Liz Murphy Invitational, as the top UCF performer...Competed in the UCF Challenge finishing in the top team spot for UCF in a tie for 46th place.
Fall 2006: Participated in all four tournaments, averaging 77.45 on the course and earning one top 10...Carded a three-over 75 in first collegiate round at the NCAA Fall Preview (finished in a tie for 79th)...Earned 34th place at the Wildcat Invitational...Led UCF in the final two events of the fall, beginning with a tie for sixth at the Lady Pirate Invitational...By shooting two rounds of 73 at the Lady Pirate Invite, earned Co-Golfer of the Week honors by the Conference USA office...Tied for 22nd in the 36-hole Auburn Derby.
Prior to UCF: Hurwitch graduated from Dominion High School in Sterling, Va., where she was co-captain of the boys[apos] golf team. She was a three-time MVP of the Dominion squad and was named the Dulles District Golfer of the Year by the Washington Post in 2004 and earned All-Met honors from the Washington Post in 2005. She was also named the Junior Female Player of the Year by the Virginia State Golf Association in 2003. She won the 2004 Virginia High School League Girl[apos]s State Open Championship and has advanced to the sectional qualifying for the U.S. Women[apos]s Open twice. She also qualified for the USGA Girl[apos]s Junior Championship twice and advanced to the match play round in 2003. She tallied four top-5 finishes in AJGA competition and has posted rounds of 4-under 68 in competition twice. She also excelled in the classroom, earning an advance studies diploma and an academic letter for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
