Megan Mitchell rejoined UCF in August 2013 after spending the last three years in the Big Ten with the Indiana Hoosiers.
In the fall, Mitchell works primarily with the novice rowers, and is primarily responsible for the development of the Varsity Four in the spring.
In her second season at UCF, the Knights captured the first conference title in program history. Mitchell joined Becky Cramer, Conny Kirsch and Kristen Larson as the American Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year, and would earn the honor for the second consecutive season in 2016.
Making its first team appearance in program history at the 2015 NCAA Championships, the V4 won the D Final and finished 19th overall.
During the 2016 season, UCF repeated as The American champion and made its second NCAA appearance.
Mitchell guided the Varsity Four, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Jazmin Sepulveda, Rachel Rabinowitz, Vitoria Artmann and Paula Parks, to a victory in the grand final. Favored to win the event, the Knights posted an open-water win over Tulsa with a season-best time of 7:35.2.
At the 2016 NCAA Championships, the V4 finished third in the D Final and 21st overall.
While in Bloomington, Mitchell served in the capacity of IU's novice coach and led the novice program to regular season wins over close rivals including Notre Dame, Michigan State, Minnesota, Louisville, Iowa, Duke, and Purdue.
She also served at Indiana University as camp director, establishing IU's inaugural summer camp programs in 2012.
Mitchell went to Indiana University in 2010 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Masters of Education in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration and serving as the Sooner's first Graduate Assistant Coach. At OU, Mitchell worked with the Novice squad and the Varsity 4+, where her crews claimed wins over regional competitors Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Tennessee, Tulsa, Alabama, and Miami.
She also worked as a Corporate Rowing Coach in Oklahoma City in 2008 and 2009. Her Advanced Crew won first place among 36 teams at the 2008 Head of the Oklahoma, while her Intermediate Crew won first place and her Novice boat finished second.
Prior to her time in Oklahoma, Mitchell's first collegiate coaching job was as the Graduate Assistant Coach for her Alma Mater, the University of Central Florida, during the 2007-2008 seasons. At UCF, Mitchell worked primarily with the Novice squad throughout the year.
Prior to serving as the Knights' Graduate Assistant Coach, Mitchell began her coaching career with Bishop Moore High School in Orlando, Fla. as the Boys' Freshman Coach during the 2005-2006 season. At Bishop Moore, her crews finished with a winning season and won the conference and state championships.
Mitchell also worked in Norwalk, Connecticut during the summer of 2006 where she worked with multiple crews on the Juniors and Masters levels to compete at the 2006 Canadian Henley.
Mitchell, a native of Orlando, Fla., received her undergraduate degree in Sport and Fitness from the University of Central Florida in 2007 and was a member of the Knights' Varsity Lightweight squad. She served as a Team Captain of the Lightweight Squad in 2006-2007 and was named the Lightweight Team MVP and Most Dedicated Athlete in the 2006-2007 season, and the Most Inspirational Athlete in 2005-2006.
