ORLANDO - From a small town in Indiana to the bright lights of the Big 12 Conference, Cayden Vasko’s basketball journey has been built on family, perseverance and a belief that the best is yet to come.
The senior transfer from Wofford has arrived at UCF with an opportunity to compete at the highest level of college basketball. For Vasko, the move means more than a new team or a different conference. It brings a childhood dream to life: playing basketball in Florida.
This dream started long before his days on the court.
Growing up, basketball was a family affair. His father coached him and his three siblings, while his cousins and extended family practiced the game making it a constant presence in his life. Working alongside his family or sitting in the stands watching his siblings’ matchups, Vasko has always been eager to learn and prepare for his own opportunity.
With age, his goal became opaque. He wanted to take his game to the collegiate level. Making this goal, one thing remained constant: the support of his family and the optimism they instilled in him.
