ORLANDO – Following its highest-ranked win in program history, UCF football head coach Scott Frost has been named Bear Bryant National Coach of the Week.
Frost now boasts the most wins over a ranked opponent in program history and is responsible for four of UCF’s 11 ranked wins. The 39-31 double overtime victory over No. 2 BYU during Week 8 of the 2026 season was his first in second stint at UCF. The victory was the first for the Knights over a top-five foe and replaced the Fiesta Bowl victory over No. 6 Baylor at the end of the 2013 season as the highest-ranked foe conquered.
Frost’s other three ranked wins came as he led the Knights to a perfect 13-0 season and a National Championship in 2017. The Black and Gold topped No. 22/19 South Florida 49-42 in the final game of the 2017 regular season, No. 16/14 Memphis 62-55 in the AAC Championship and No. 7/8 Auburn 34-27 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Frost was honored with the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award at the end of the 2017 season as well as a host of other national coach of the year awards.
