JUPITER, Fla. - UCF men’s golf saved its biggest push for the final day, climbing two spots to finish fifth at the FAU Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Camden Goldknopf led the charge, firing a 5-under-par in the final round to surge from a tie for 24th into the top 10 and finish tied for eighth.
Starting competition Monday Sept. 21 at 8:30 a.m., the Knights opened play carding a 5-under-par in the first round (283). Brodie Cunningham led the way with a bogey-free 4-under-par round, while Ilan Dufrenoy followed with a 2-under-par (70). Joshua Stephens competing in his second collegiate tournament as an individual, also finished 2-under-par.
Hans Risvaer opened with an even-par round before carding 1-under in the second round. Jakub Hejlek provided a highlight to close out the opening day, recording an eagle on the 18th hole. The Black and Gold rounded out the first day at 3-under-par (573), sitting tied for seventh with I-4 rival USF.
The Knights made their move Tuesday, climbing two spots to finish fifth and move ahead of Louisiana Tech, USF, Campbell, Florida A&M and Old Dominion.

Dufrenoy helped spark the charge with two eagles in the final round, while Risvaer added another to give UCF three eagles on the day and four for the tournament.
Goldknopf capped the final round with his best round of the season, firing a 5-under-par (67) to surge from a tie for 24th to a tie for eighth. His impressive finish helped fuel the Knights’ climb to fifth place and secured his third consecutive top-10 finish to open the season.
UCF closed the tournament at 6-under (570) and earned its second top-five team finish of the season.

After three consecutive weekends of competition to open the season, the Knights will have a week off before returning to action Oct. 5-6 at the Island at West Bay Collegiate in Estero, Florida.
