CINCINNATI, Ohio – Consistency continued to pay off for Camden Goldknopf, who posted his second consecutive top-five finish Tuesday, September 15th to lead men’s golf to a 12th-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational.
Following a top-five team finish at the season opener, the Knights returned to the road for their second tournament of the season at Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati. UCF opened Monday with two rounds, carding a 289 (+4) in the first round before improving to a 286 (+2) in the second. The Knights finished the opening day at 575 (+7), tied for 12th in the 17-team field
Brodie Cunningham provided a spark in the second round, firing an even-par 71.
Goldknopf continued to build momentum throughout the tournament, posting three consecutive under-par rounds of 70, 69 and 68. His 6-under-par (207) placed him tied for fourth, marking his second consecutive top-five finish after tying for fifth at the season opener. Goldknopf entered the final 18 holes tied for fourth and maintained his position with a strong finish.
Ilan Dufrenoy made his mark in the final round, recording an eagle on the 10th hole and adding two birdies to finish at even-par.
Hans Risvaer saved his best for last, closing the tournament with a 1-under-par. After opening shooting 72 (+1) and following with 73 (+2), Risvaer bounced back to finish the tournament under par in the final round.
Jakub Hejlek added six birdies throughout the tournament, while freshman Zilin Gao, competing as an individual, recorded four birdies across the three rounds.
The Knights closed the tournament with a 285 (+1) in the final round, bringing their 54-hole total to 860 (+8) and securing 12th place.
