Women’s Soccer Defeats Second Straight SEC Foe with 2-1 Win at No. 21 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – Alysiah Lockette scored in the first half and Payton Patrick in the second half to lead UCF women’s soccer to a 2-1 victory over No. 21 LSU on Thursday night at the LSU Soccer Stadium.

The win marked the Black and Gold’s second straight over an SEC opponent on the young season, as the Knights move to 2-0-0 on the year. The result also marked the Tigers’ (1-2-0) first non-conference home loss in two years and moved the Knights to a 2-0-1 all-time in Baton Rouge.

“I’m really proud of the team tonight,” head UCF coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. “Winning on the road is never easy, and I thought we showed a tremendous amount of grit and toughness for the full 90 minutes. We had to fight through some difficult moments, stay together and continue to compete, and I loved the way our team responded. This was a hard-earned win and a great example of the mentality we want to have as a team every week.”

With time in the first half winding down and the game still scoreless, the Knights found junior transfer Alysiah Lockette open on the left side, and she drilled home a left-footed strike to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 advantage in the 39th minute. Maria Tregansin and Naomi Clark helped set up the goal, as they were both credited with assists.

UCF then looked to add to its lead in the closing seconds of the half when Bella Douglas fed a ball deep into the box that Clark was able to flick ahead. But the attempt was saved at the last moment by an LSU defender to keep it a 1-0 score at the break.

With the Knights holding to the one-goal advantage in the 64th minute, Tyra Eriksen raced a ball down the left side. She then fed a pass into the center of the box to Clark and the senior forward found Payton Patrick streaking towards the goal for an easy tap in to extend UCF’s lead to 2-0. The goal marked Patrick’s first as a Knight and was assisted by both Clark and Eriksen.

The Tigers later cut the deficit in half in the 77th minute when Ava Amsden intercepted a pass and found the back of the net from beyond the 18 to make it a 2-1 contest.

With just 10 minutes remaining, Clark had an opportunity to add to UCF’s lead with a header in the box, but the attempt went just high.

LSU pressed in the closing minutes, but strong play from the Black and Gold’s backline along with a solid performance from sophomore keeper Ansley Ittel in her first appearance as a Knight helped seal the victory for UCF.

Behind Lockette and Patrick’s goals, Clark recorded a pair of assists and led the way with four shots. Eriksen and the captain Tregansin also added assists on the night for the Black and Gold. Amsden scored the Tigers’ lone goal while Sariyah Bailey led the team with four shots. As a team, UCF outshot LSU 11-8.

In her first start as a Knight, Ittel recorded the victory in goal after recording a pair of saves and playing the full 90 minutes.

The victory marked UCF’s first road win over a ranked opponent since Sept. 28, 2025, when it defeated then-No. 17 Arizona State in Tempe.
