Softball Announces 2027 Big 12 Conference Schedule

by Ryan Ladika

ORLANDO – In conjunction with the announcement made by the league office Thursday afternoon, the UCF softball team has revealed the Big 12 Conference portion of its 2027 schedule.

The Knights will host four conference series at the UCF Softball Complex and make four conference road trips in 2027, matching up against the Houston Cougars, Oklahoma State Cowgirls, BYU Cougars and Arizona Wildcats at home, while traveling to face the Baylor Bears, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Kansas Jayhawks and Utah Utes on the road.

UCF’s 2027 Big 12 Conference schedule is as follows:

March 12-14: at Baylor

March 19-21: vs. Houston

March 25-27: at Texas Tech

April 2-4: vs. Oklahoma State

April 9-11: at Kansas

April 15-17: vs. BYU

April 30-May 2: at Utah

May 7-9: vs. Arizona

The Knights enjoyed their strongest showing yet in Big 12 Conference play a season ago, producing a winning record against conference foes (14-9-1) for the first time since joining the league prior to the 2024 season. En route to finishing as the No. 20 team in the nation by the NCAA’s official RPI rankings, UCF earned series wins over then-No. 12 Oklahoma State, Houston, Utah, then-No. 23 Arizona State, then-No. 24 Kansas and Iowa State.

March 12-14: at Baylor – Waco, Texas

For the third time in their first four years in the league, the Knights will make the trip to Waco, Texas for a three-game set with the Baylor Bears at Getterman Stadium.

For the Black and Gold, their first conference road trip represents an opportunity to accomplish a goal not yet completed by the program through three years in the Big 12, as Baylor represents the last remaining current Big 12 program against which UCF has not won a regular-season conference series.

March 19-21: vs. Houston – Orlando, Fla.

On the heels of a prolific series on both sides of the ball for UCF in Houston, Texas last year, the series shifts back to Orlando in 2027.

UCF earned a dominant three-game sweep of the Cougars on the road March 27-29, during which the squad outscored Houston by an aggregate 49-9 throughout a weekend that featured 19 Knights home runs and a five-inning perfect game thrown by redshirt sophomore right-hander Isabella Vega.

The team effort extended UCF’s series win streak against the Cougars to six straight, and pushed the Knights’ all-time record against Houston to 40-23.

March 25-27: at Texas Tech – Lubbock, Texas

Another challenge awaits the Black and Gold in their third weekend of Big 12 Conference play, when the team will return to Lubbock for the first time since 2024 to square off against the two-time National runner-up Red Raiders.

The series will mark the third between UCF and Texas Tech since the Knights joined the Big 12. The Black and Gold took two out of three from the Red Raiders in Lubbock March 28-30, 2024, before Texas Tech earned a three-game sweep of the Knights in Orlando March 20-22, 2026.

April 2-4: vs. Oklahoma State – Orlando, Fla.

A season after UCF earned a statement series win in Stillwater, Oklahoma over the Cowgirls, Oklahoma State will make the trip to Orlando in the conference’s fourth weekend of league action.

The Knights were up to the challenge presented by the then-No. 12 Cowgirls last spring, outscoring Oklahoma State 11-7 on the weekend to earn not only the first road win over the Cowgirls in program history, but the first overall series win over Oklahoma State in program history as well. The two teams will face off in 2027 having split the last six meetings overall with three wins apiece.

April 9-11: at Kansas – Lawrence, Kan.

UCF’s fifth weekend of Big 12 Conference action presents an opportunity to right the ship against the Kansas Jayhawks after the program let a pair of opportunities slip in 2026.

The Knights went 2-2 against Kansas last spring, taking the first two games of the teams’ three-game set in Orlando before the Jayhawks salvaged the series finale, 4-2. The programs met once again weeks later in the opening round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Oklahoma City, a contest that saw UCF unable to hold an early 4-0 advantage in an eventual 6-5 loss.

The Black and Gold have enjoyed recent success on the Jayhawks home field, though, as UCF earned a three-game sweep of the Jayhawks in Lawrence to conclude the 2025 regular season. The weekend saw the Knights outscore Kansas by an aggregate 20-10, while then-redshirt freshman right-hander Isabella Vega threw the first no-hitter of her collegiate career in a 7-0 game one win.

April 15-17: vs. BYU – Orlando, Fla.

After the two programs did not meet in 2026, UCF and BYU will match up for the third time as conference opponents in Orlando in 2027.

The Knights have enjoyed great prior success against the Cougars since joining the Big 12, having taken five of the previous six games against BYU since 2024. UCF earned a three-game sweep of the Cougars at the UCF Softball Complex in 2024, representing the first Big 12 Conference series sweep in program history, and later took two of three in Provo, Utah in 2025.

April 30-May 2: at Utah – Salt Lake City, Utah

During the Knights’ penultimate weekend of Big 12 Conference play, the program will make its first trip to Salt Lake City for the second regular-season series between UCF and the Utes.

The Black and Gold hosted Utah for a three-game set in 2026, a weekend that saw the Knights go unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record. UCF earned a pair of dominant victories in games one and two of the series, by 17-0 and 9-1, before an extra-inning game three resulted in a tie due to the Utes’ drop-dead time for travel.

May 7-9: vs. Arizona – Orlando, Fla.

For the first time since the 2021 campaign, the Knights will have the luxury of playing the regular season’s final weekend on their home field.

The team will square off against an Arizona Wildcats squad it has faced in the regular season just once, when UCF earned the highest-ranked series win in program history over the then-No. 4 Wildcats in Tucson March 7-9, 2025. The teams have split the last four meetings entering the series in 2027, after Arizona edged the Knights, 4-3, in the second round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Oklahoma City May 8, 2025.
