UCF Baseball 2026 Summer League Participants

ORLANDO – The UCF baseball team has a number of student-athletes currently taking part in six different summer baseball leagues around the country. A full list of where the Knights are playing their 2026 summer league baseball can be found below.

AROUND THE LEAGUES

Rising sophomore outfielder Stephen Chucka is off to a solid start this summer for the La Crosse Loggers of the Northwoods League, as he holds a .317 average and a .908 OPS. He also has three homers, two doubles, 15 runs scored, 18 RBIs and 19 total hits in over 16 games played. He went a season-best 3-for-6 with a grand slam, six RBIs and three runs scored in a 25-7 win on June 16.

His teammate and fellow rising sophomore in catcher Sebastian Hurtado is also having a stellar summer for the La Crosse Loggers, as he currently leads the team with a .382 average and a .956 OPS. He also holds seven doubles, one home run, 10 runs scored and a team-best 20 RBIs over 16 games played. He had a four-hit game with two doubles and three runs batted in on June 17.

Rising sophomore outfielder Zachary Malvasio too is producing this summer playing for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Sr. League. Malvasio is batting .327 with a .955 OPS. He is also one of the league’s leaders in home runs with four, along with two doubles, 10 runs scored, 12 RBIs and 18 total hits in 16 games played. He had a two-homer game on June 16 in which he drove in drove in three runs and the performance started a stretch in which he homered in three straight games.

Rising junior first baseman/outfielder James Hankerson Jr. and rising sophomore Luke Mottola are both playing for the Orlando Snappers of the Florida League right here in Orlando. Hankerson Jr. is batting .289 with a .740 OPS, two doubles, eight runs scored, five RBIs and 13 total hits in 16 games. Mottola is right behind him with a .250 average and a .628 OPS with a pair of doubles, seven runs scored, six RBIs and 11 total hits in 14 games played.

The rising sophomore catcher Dallas Brooks began his summer playing for the Johnson City Doughboys of the Appalachian League and is now currently playing for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League. Brooks is batting .235 for the summer with a .581 OPS. He has a double, six runs scored and seven RBIs. He also holds a .975 fielding percentage and has thrown out two would-be base stealers.

After redshirting the 2026 campaign for the Knights, left-hander Brady Montrowl has made a trio of starts this summer for the Winter Garden Squeeze. Montrowl is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA. He’s struck out 14 batters and walked just five over 10.2 innings. Fellow left-hander Wyatt Dion too has made a trio of starts this summer for the Lima Locos. Dion is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA. He holds 16 strikeouts compared to just six walks over 11.2 innings.
