UCF Athletics Post Outstanding APR Scores; Five Programs Earn NCAA Public Recognition

by Ken Landis

ORLANDO – UCF athletics continues to demonstrate academic excellence across its athletic programs, as highlighted by the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) data released by the NCAA this week. Five UCF teams achieved perfect multi-year APR scores of 1,000, underscoring the university's commitment to student-athlete success both on and off the field. Additionally, nine teams scored single-year scores of 1,000.

This latest release of APR information by the NCAA includes data through the 2024-25 academic year. The APR score takes into account graduation, retention and eligibility to determine a clear picture of the current academic culture of a program. The NCAA uses multi-year averages to track a program's academic progress. The multi-year rate includes the previous four years' worth of data—from 2021-22 through 2024-25.

Volleyball secured a perfect 1,000 multi-year APR score for the fifth consecutive year and the 10th time in 13 years. Similarly, the women's golf team achieved a perfect score for the fifth straight year, while the men's golf team attained this mark for the fourth consecutive year. The women's tennis team also reached a perfect 1,000 for the third year in a row and the 11th time in 14 years. Men’s tennis scored its second perfect 1,000, doing so this past year as well as in 2021-22.

These five programs also received Public Recognition Awards for their academic achievement by ranking in the top 10 percent of their sport nationally in multi-year APR performance. The NCAA’s APR is a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility, retention, and graduation of each student-athlete, providing a real-time measure of academic progress.

In addition to the five teams that earned multi-year APR perfect scores, men’s basketball, rowing, softball and women’s soccer added single-year scores of 1,000.

“We’re extremely proud of the academic achievements our student-athletes continue to demonstrate, and this year’s APR scores speak volumes about their dedication and focus,” said Tara Helton, UCF’s Senior Associate AD for Academics. “Having five programs earn a perfect 1,000 APR is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the culture of excellence our student-athletes embrace every day. This success is made possible by the commitment of our Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) staff, our coaches, and the broader academic support team. We’re so appreciative of everyone who contributes to an environment where they can reach their full potential academically and athletically.”

Rowing topped its previous program best, scoring 998 across the previous four years. Men’s basketball also scored a new program high mark of 977. Softball tied its record mark with a 997, scoring 994 or better over the last six years. Women’s soccer achieved its best clip in the last four years with a 987.

Football scored a 981, which stands 10 points higher than the FBS average. Men’s basketball also beat the average mark of 971 with its 977. Women’s basketball also topped the average, scoring 990 compared to 984.

Six programs were either tied or alone in first in the Big 12 Conference; the group included the five UCF programs with a perfect 1,000 along with rowing.

These accomplishments reflect UCF Athletics' unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where student-athletes can thrive academically and athletically.
