ORLANDO - Joining an exciting haul of guards that first-year head coach Gabe Lazo has brought to Orlando, the UCF women’s basketball team officially signed Northern Illinois transfer Kya Hurt to the 2026-27 roster.
The freshman sensation was a key figure for the Redbirds during her first collegiate campaign, averaging 7.7 points per game across over 20 minutes of action per game. An efficient shooter, Hurt boasted an impressive 42/37/74 split, downing 111 of her 262 field-goal attempts.
From beyond the arc, Hurt connected on 23 of her 63 attempts, highlighted by a career-high four against Indiana State on December 29. On the defensive end, Hurt tallied just under a steal per game and averaged two rebounds a contest.
