Knights to return to NCAA Tallahassee Regional for third time in last four seasons

by Ryan Ladika

ORLANDO – For the sixth consecutive season and overall 13th in a row, the UCF softball team heard its name called on Selection Sunday.

The Knights will return to a familiar postseason site this week, making the trip back to Tallahassee, Florida, along with Jacksonville State and Stetson to the home of the Florida State Seminoles.

UCF’s selection to the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional marks the third time in the last four seasons, fourth time in the last six, and the fifth time in the program’s history that the Black and Gold will open NCAA Tournament play in Tallahassee.

Jacksonville State represents an unfamiliar opponent for the squad, as the Knights have faced the Gamecocks just five times in program history, with the last meeting coming in 2007.

UCF this season clinched its third straight win over Stetson and seventh in the last eight matchups between the teams, earning a 5-3 win over the Hatters in Orlando April 15. A win over Florida State would represent UCF’s first since 2011.

The Black and Gold’s first NCAA Tournament contest is set for the afternoon of Friday, May 15, immediately following the No. 9 overall seeded Seminoles’ weekend-opener against the Hatters.
