COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 UCF rowing team completed their third consecutive sweep of the season, claiming first-place finishes in all races they competed in on the second day of racing at Griggs Reservoir Saturday morning.

Mara AllenUCF Rowing Head CoachThe Knights opened up the day of racing in the opposite order as the day prior, beginning with the First 8+. The crew was the first of the day to complete an open-water win, clocking in a time of 06:19.2, 5.7 seconds ahead of the next nearest boat in host school, No. 20 Ohio State. No. 19 North Carolina slotted into third place behind the other two top-20 programs, finishing at 06:31.5.
The Second 8+ was next to hit the water and followed suit of the top boat, crossing the line ahead of Ohio State and North Carolina. The Black and Gold recorded a time of 06:28.2 while the Buckeyes checked in at 06:32.3 and the Tar Heels and 06:33.3.
The following crew to take to the course was the first boat consisting of five in the First 4+. While the Knights once again recorded a first-place finish, they now had North Carolina directly behind them with a 1.6 second difference. UCF pulled out the win, finishing with a time of 07:12.8 while North Carolina crossed at 07:14.4. Ohio State was the last to cross the finish, clocking in a time of 07:19.5.
The Second 4+ was the final boat out of UCF to compete, sealing the clean sweep for the Knights. The crew crossed the 2000 meters with open water to spare at the finish, closing the race at 07:21.4. Ohio State finished 7.6 seconds behind the Black and Gold, crossing the line at 07:29.0. The Tar Heels followed the Buckeyes by 2.5 seconds, putting in a time of 07:31.5.
UP NEXT
The Knights are back in action as they take to the water for the Orlando Invite, the first regatta of its kind on Lake Pickett. In addition to UCF, participating teams include No. 14 Penn, No. 15 Duke, No. 16 Miami, No. 17 Alabama, No. 21 Oklahoma, SMU and Clemson. The race will begin with heats on April 17 and finals on April 18. Admission is free to all who wish to attend.
