ORLANDO – The No. 17 UCF softball team dropped the second of its two-game home-and-home series to the No. 5 Florida Gators, 7-0, at the UCF Softball Complex Saturday evening.

The contest marked the second straight 7-0 defeat at the hands of the fifth-ranked Gators following the teams’ matchup in Gainesville Friday evening, but represented only the fourth shutout loss suffered by UCF this season.

Freshman southpaw Reagan Vokoun, tabbed for her fifth start of the season and 17th appearance overall, began the evening with a spotless top of the first inning before the Gators cracked the scoreboard first on an RBI triple in the top of the second.

Vokoun limited the damage to one, but Florida later added four more scores in the top of the third and one more in the top of the fourth to open a 6-0 advantage.

UCF, meanwhile, saw its offense stifled for a second straight evening, with an Izzy Mertes single representing the Knights’ lone hit.
