Men's Golf Concludes Play at The Hayt Collegiate, Risvaer Secured Top-10 Finish

by Alex Clough

PONTE VEDRA, Florida - Against its toughest field of the season, a strong first round carried the UCF men’s golf team to a 12th-place finish at The Hayt Collegiate, with Hans Risvaer leading the charge at the Sawgrass Country Club.

During Saturday’s opening round, the Knights put themselves among multiple top-25 teams with an impressive eight-under-par showing (fifth place), headlined by Risvaer, Clemente Silva and Chase Haygood each carding under-par outings to highlight a consistent day on the course.

The trio combined for eight birdies on the front nine to place each among the top-50 in the field. While round two proved to be a more challenging slate, Risvaer kept his foot on the gas with a two-under-par performance, establishing himself firmly in the top 10 on the leaderboard.

The Black and Gold improved upon a six-over-par second round on Monday, carding a 293 due to a pair of under-par days from Silva and Risvaer, who finished the tournament in a tie for ninth with a seven-under-par 209.

Risvaer especially shone on par fours, leaving the tournament ranked first in the field with an average score of 3.80 (-6). Fourteen birdies garnered the Miami native with his second top-10 finish of the campaign.

He was trailed by Silva, whose two-under-par final round propelled him to a 27th-place finish. Difficult third rounds from Haygood (+4) and Lucas Dutartre (+4) put the tandem in 68th and 78th. However, Haygood’s 70-stroke opening round marked his 11th under-par round of the season.

Jakub Hejlek rounded out the field with a 239 showing in his fifth tournament as a Knight.

The Knights will look to defend their title at the ECU Intercollegiate in Greenville, North Carolina, from March 16-17.
