ORLANDO – As the No. 21 UCF softball team returns home from its road series in Houston, the program will host its fourth annual Autism Awareness and Acceptance Game during its home series-opener against Utah Thursday, April 2.

The team will return many elements from the previous three years hosting the event, including giveaways, a kids club table, Knightro’s Kid Zone, and in-game components as well.

Puzzle piece ribbons will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last, as will Kulture City sensory bags for any fans with any sensory needs at the game, both at the marketing table upon entry.

Those bringing kids to the game can stop by the Kids Club table, where younger fans may partake in coloring activities and create their own hair bows and posters as well.

Knightro’s Kid Zone will feature inflatables and other classic outdoor yard games, and the program will also hold a completely silent first inning upon the beginning of the game to be mindful of those in attendance with sensory sensitivity, with the noise gradually becoming louder as the game progresses.

The stadium public address announcer will also share facts about autism throughout the evening to heighten awareness and understanding for those in attendance.

At the end of the third inning, the program will also hold a ‘Puzzle Piece Moment of Awareness.’ Staff members will pass out puzzle piece coloring pages and sheets for fans to hold up during this time.

First pitch for Thursday’s series-opener against Utah is set for 6 p.m. and will also be streamed live on ESPN+.
