GREENVILLE, North Carolina - Playing one of its most difficult courses this season, the UCF men’s golf team weathered the conditions and produced a fourth-place finish across three rounds at the ECU Intercollegiate this week.
Hosted at the Brook Valley Country Club, the Knights carded an 887 (+23), highlighted by a 292 in the second round, which jumped them four spots on the leaderboard.
The Knights were led by the efforts of Chase Haygood, who rebounded after a difficult opening round on Sunday to place eighth overall, marking his second top-10 finish of the spring.
Haygood shot six-over-par in the aforementioned first round, falling to down a birdie in a rare 18-hole endeavor. However, the seniors' experience and poise saw him soar back up the leaderboard with a pair of steady rounds, including a two-under-par performance in the second round.
An even 72 solidified his place among the leading pack and led an overall balanced round for the Black and Gold. Hans Risvaer authored three rounds of over-par play, but stayed steady on the challenging course to secure a 14th-place finish with a 222 (+6).
Playing as an individual, Palmer Haynes matched Clemente Silva’s 223 (+7), as the tandem each combined for four birdies on the final day of action to attain a top-20 finish in 19th.
Despite shooting one-under-par on Sunday, Camden Goldknopf had a difficult final two rounds, though he remained among the top-30 with a 29th-place finish after an overall score of 227 (+11). Lucas Dutartre rounded out the UCF lineup in 55th, carding a 234 across the three rounds.
