Women's Hoops Opens Two-Game Road Swing at Oklahoma State Saturday

by Alex Clough

STILLWATER, Oklahoma - With just seven games to play in the regular season, the UCF women's basketball team is set to embark on its last multi-game road trip, with a Saturday afternoon tilt at Oklahoma State set to open the swing.

The Black and Gold have suffered a four-game losing streak after claiming its Space Game contest against Colorado, as the grueling Big 12 slate has seen the Knights keep it close with multiple preseason favorites. Saturday's contest will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs and the second matchup in Stillwater.

About the Cowgirls

Oklahoma State returns home to Stillwater after splitting a pair of games during its west-coast road trip, first defeating Arizona before a difficult defeat at Arizona State. Having been among the top-25 earlier this season, the Cowgirls' NET ranking of 28 puts them in a strong position for tournament play. The team has a balanced attack with five players averaging 10 or more points a game, including former Knight Achol Akot (11.2 points per game).

The More You Mo
Sophomore Mahogany Chandler-Roberts has risen to the occasion in Big 12 play, averaging 8.3 points across UCF's 11 games, producing a consistent stretch over the last 10 with seven double-digit scoring performances. She is one of 30 players to have seven or more double-digit scoring games in Big 12 play this season. Before conference play began, the Portland native had just one career game with 10-plus points to her name, and has since tallied three games with 10, one game with 13, two games with 14 and a career-high 17 points vs. No. 9 TCU on Jan. 24.

Mission Accomplished
In the program's fourth annual Space Game, the 'Nauts upset Colorado 74-68 in Orlando, proving everything is better in space. Summer Yancy set a career-high with 25 points, six field goals and a game-leading five three pointers. Mahogany Chandler-Roberts produced her fifth game with 10 more points this season and her fourth in the last six Big 12 contests. The win was also in large part due to a season-best 25 points in the second quarter, outscoring the Buffs 25-10 behind a 20-2 run over seven minutes. -

Yancy Fancy's the Three
With the sophomore’s previous career high of 14 left in the dust, Summer Yancy became just the sixth player in the Sytia Messer era (since 2022-23) to score 25 or more points. Yancy is now one of three players in the Big 12 to have 25 or more points, six or more rebounds, and four or more assists in a single game. The Kansas City native is now averaging 7.7 points per game in conference play.

It's Khy Time
Junior Khyala Ngodu led UCF to its first Big 12 win of the season at Arizona with a dominant 22-point, 13-rebound double-double in Tucson, also adding a team-leading five assists and four steals. The performance ranks among the best in the Big 12 this season, as Ngodu is one of four players in the Big 12 this season to secure a 20-point double-double in a conference game (Audi Crooks - Iowa State, Marta Suarez - TCU, Reese Ross - Utah). It joins a similar 21-point, 13-rebound performance against Wake Forest at the Discover Puerto Rico Shootout on Nov. 27. Ngodu is one of just 12 players in the NCAA this season to record 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, 4+ assists and 4+ steals in a single game (1 of 4 in Power 4). The junior followed it up with her second-consecutive double-double vs. Cincinnati and yet another at No. 14 Baylor (three in seven games).
