UCFAA Production Collaborates with Disney and ESPN to Broadcast Spring Slate

ORLANDO – This season, UCFAA Production is collaborating with Disney and ESPN Wide World of Sports, allowing every UCF home baseball and softball game to be streamed live on ESPN+ this spring.

In previous years, equipment limitations made it impossible to stream multiple home events occurring on the same day. Basketball, baseball and softball games are often scheduled on the same day, and occasionally the same time during crossover season.

In the past, an average of five combined baseball and softball home games per season went without a proper ESPN+ stream. The collaboration allows both sports to be properly represented so fans can catch every pitch.

The development of this collaboration has not only guaranteed every UCF softball and baseball game being streamed on ESPN+ this season but also allows each neutral game for softball’s three home tournaments to be broadcast to fans of teams back home, something very few other softball programs can offer.

A New Model for Multi‑Event Coverage
UCFAA Production has invested heavily in new and upgraded equipment, but with only two control rooms on campus, the department faces capacity constraints. To overcome those challenges, UCFAA Production and Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports have developed a shared‑resource model inspired by ESPN’s own REMI workflows.

The WWOS Broadcast Center houses equipment that mirrors UCFAA’s setup, particularly in graphics and replay, making it an ideal extension of UCF’s production capabilities. Disney and UCFAA Production agreed to a minimum of nine shared-production days this spring; UCF is planning on utilizing the space for 11.

The collaboration launched this past weekend with a demanding slate: UCF baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and the “Hitting the Field” pregame show. All broadcasts were executed successfully, demonstrating the strength and scalability of the new model.

Expanded Coverage for 2025–26
The partnership marks a milestone for UCF Athletics and its fans, who will no longer miss key moments due to production limitations. It has allowed the following:

  • All UCF home baseball and softball games will be streamed on ESPN+
  • All home softball tournament games will be streamed
  • UCFAA Production will air its first-ever track & field broadcast in March

A Win for Students and Their Futures
UCFAA Production is built on student involvement, and the partnership opens new doors for hands-on experience and professional networking.

“Our goal is to give our students real-world working experiences,” said Major Howe, UCF Senior Associate Athletics Director, Production. “Disney’s Wide World of Sports and ESPN are natural partners and developing this relationship benefits everyone. What better thing to put on your résumé than that you worked with Disney, ESPN/ESPN+, and UCFAA Production.”

UCFAA Production will continue to seek creative solutions focusing not on limitations, but on opportunities.
