Men's Golf Finishes Strong at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Florida - Continuing its strong form in the Sunshine State, UCF men’s golf bounced back after a tough second round, producing a one-under-par performance in the third to conclude the Gators Invitational in 12th, carding a 863 (+23).

Hans paced the Black and Gold with a 27th-place finish, shooting 213 (+3), including a pair of under-par rounds (one and three), to place amongst eight players ranked among the top-50 in the nation.

Led by last tournament's champion, Chase Haygood, and Risvaer, the Knights sat among the top five after an incredible first 18 holes. The pair both shot one-under-par, carding a combined nine birdies to each sit within the top-15 on the individual leaderboard. Risvaer tallied no bogies on the front nine, producing consistent golf to go along with Haygood.

While remaining over-par in the round, Lucas Dutartre and Clemente Silva carded a 74, with the latter boasting a pair of birdies on the final holes to shift the Knights up the leaderboard.

As the sun beamed down and the afternoon dragged on, round two gave the Black and Gold a more difficult path than the first, as a 298 (+18) stopped UCF's momentum and put them in 16th place.

Each Knight shot at least three-over-par, including 10 bogies across holes 10-14 to leave a tough road ahead. While play was suspended on Saturday and the second round concluded on Sunday morning, UCF put the past 18 holes behind them in an instant.

After the leading pack sat three-over-par after the first six holes, as the back nine turned back to the front, Risvaer, Haygood, and Silva each birdied the first hole, setting the tone for a consistent rest of the day that was concluded with a bang.

On the 12th hole finale, a par five, Dutartre joined the trio in each carding a birdie to conclude their weekends and propelling the Knights to a one-under-par third round, joining hosts and title winner Florida as the only teams to do so.
