Women's Golf Opens Spring Season at Eagle Creek

by Jenna VanHoose

ORLANDO - The UCF women's golf team opens its spring schedule as host of the UCF Challenge presented by PDI at Eagle Creek Country Club from January 25 to 27. The partnership with Player Development Index (PDI) seeks to enhance the team performance with an emphasis on long-term program success.

The Knights consistently placed in the top five during their fall season, finishing the Illini Invitational in first place overall. With Mila Jurine earning an individual title as well as one with the team. The Black and Gold hope to bring that energy into the spring season as they look toward the Big 12 Championship.

Last year, the Knights ended the tournament tied for fourth with Mila Jurine leading the charge, going a total of seven under through the weekend and finishing in a tie for 11th. The tournament gives UCF a strong start to their spring season and a shot to thrive on their home course.

The Knights will compete in six spring tournaments before heading to the Big 12 Championship, set for April 23 to 25 at the Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas.

The tournament will be 3 days packed with 18 holes per-day. The Knights will tee off at 9:15 on Sunday, then seeding from the first round will determine Monday’s tee time. The tournament will conclude with a 9 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday morning.

The No. 12 Knights will compete in the UCF Challenge against Abilene Christian, #7 Auburn, #21 Baylor, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Kent State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Florida, Northern Iowa, Old Dominion, Penn State, South Alabama, and South Florida.
