Only three weeks out from the Sea Best Invitational, Clemente Silva is heading back to Orlando on a high note after claiming first at the 2026 XL Cachagua Golf Open, prevailing in a three-player playoff.
The annual tournament, hosted at Club de Golf Cachagua in Zapallar, Chile, was one to remember this year as its 40th edition welcomed top amateurs and pros from the region.
The annual Chilean golf open saw fierce competition throughout, but the top of the leader board was notably the most intense. Silva was tied with both professionals Agustín Errázuriz and Matías Domínguez for first place before topping the field in a playoff to claim the top spot.
Silva held the lead in the first two rounds with scores of 64 and 68 but had to keep his composure on the 18th hole playoff after a difficult third round, eventually securing a birdie to win the competition.
This marked the first time an amateur won the tournament since Joaquín Niemann’s triumph over a decade ago.
The senior will look to keep the momentum into the spring semester and build upon a promising fall in Black and Gold.
