Ruelas proved to be reliable in the clutch, as he has been all year for the Knights. The Lou Groza semifinalist earned the first game-winner of his career with the kick, knocking through the 34-yarder with a snap from Dalton Riggs and hold from Anthony Venneri. Ruelas made the kick with under a minute to go in the game, and the defense stood tall to cling to the 17-14 victory. The game-winning field goal was the first for the Black and Gold since the 2023 road contest at Boise State.

Now 15-for-17 on the campaign, Ruelas leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage. His clip of 88.2% currently sits tied for third in field goal percentage in a season for a UCF kicker.

Ruelas is the only Knight in UCF’s FBS history to knock in three field goals from beyond 50 yards in a single season, tying his career long with a 54-yarder vs. Houston while adding a 53-yarder at Kansas State and 51-yarder vs. West Virginia. The program record for 50+ yarders in a season is four, achieved by Scott Ryerson in 1981, UCF's final D-III season.
