by Aiden Kocol

ORLANDO – Fresh off a record-breaking sophomore season in the Big 12, the UCF women’s tennis team is ready to build on its momentum. The Knights have unveiled their 2026 dual-match schedule, and for the first time ever, the Big 12 Championship is coming home to Orlando.

UCF will face 22 opponents this season, officially opening play on Jan. 18 with a USTA National Campus doubleheader against in-state rivals South Florida and Bethune-Cookman. From there, the Knights head to Baton Rouge for the 2026 ITA Kickoff Weekend, where they will open action against UCLA on Jan. 24.

Conference action begins with back-to-back home matches, as UCF welcomes Beehive State opponents BYU on Feb. 26 and Utah on Feb. 28. In total, the Knights will host six Big 12 foes and travel for seven more before returning to Orlando, where the Big 12 Championships will be held at USTA for the first time in program history.

JANUARY | 7 Matches | 2 Home | 2 Neutral | 1 Away

  • Jan. 18 - South Florida (H) | 12 p.m.
  • Jan. 18 - Bethune-Cookman (H) | 4:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 24 - UCLA (N) | 12 p.m. | ITA Kickoff Weekend @ LSU
  • Jan. 25 - LSU/Marshall (N) | TBA | ITA Kickoff Weekend @ LSU
  • Jan. 30 - Florida State (A) | 4 p.m.

A doubleheader will welcome the Knights back to the court for the 2026 season on Sunday, Jan. 18, as they face the Bulls at noon, followed by Bethune-Cookman at 4:30 p.m. Although last year’s meeting with Bethune-Cookman was canceled due to weather, UCF will look to preserve its perfect 13-0 record against the Wildcats in this year’s opening matchup.

The Knights will then travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for ITA Kickoff Weekend at the LSU Tennis Complex, opening with a first-round matchup against UCLA. They’ll close out the month back in the Sunshine State with a 4 p.m. home match against Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 30.

FEBRUARY | 6 Matches | 4 Home | 2 Away

  • Feb. 13 - Florida International (A) | 1 p.m.
  • Feb. 15 - Miami (A) | 1 p.m.
  • Feb. 20 - Florida Atlantic (H) | 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 22 - Stetson (H) | 12 p.m.
  • Feb. 26 - BYU (H) | 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 28 - Utah (H) | 12 p.m.

The squad will continue its tour of Florida to open February, traveling south to face FIU in a 1 p.m. match at the new PayCargo Tennis Center on Feb. 13, remaining on the road for a Feb. 15 contest against the Miami Hurricanes before returning to the USTA National Campus for a four-match homestand.

The aforementioned home swing will begin with the Black and Gold’s first night match of the season as they host Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. Two days later, UCF will welcome Stetson for a Sunday match at Noon, marking the 57th all-time meeting between the programs.

The Knights will cap their four-match homestand with a bang, opening conference play against BYU on Feb. 26 and Utah on Feb. 28. It was this very back-to-back competition on the road that powered UCF to its 2025 Regular Season Champion title, sparked by a thrilling 4-3 showdown with BYU and punctuated by a commanding 4-1 win over the Utes. The Knights will look to recapture that spark as they open their Big 12 slate in front of their home crowd, in the final weekend of February.

The Black and Gold will head out West to begin March, facing Arizona in a 2 p.m. matchup in Tucson on March 6, following up with a trip to Phoenix on Sunday, March 8, to face the Arizona State Sun Devils in another 2 p.m. contest.

The squad will make a quick trip back to the USTA National Campus for a weekend of matches, starting with a Friday night clash against Colorado on March 13 at 6 p.m., quickly turning around for a Sunday showdown on March 15 against Texas Tech at noon. The Knights will be hungry for redemption in the latter matchup, as the Red Raiders handed UCF its only conference loss of the 2024-25 season, and later snatched the Big 12 Championship crown with a win over Koniecko and his squad in the title match.

March will wrap up with a three-match road swing, beginning with a 5 p.m. showdown in Ames, Iowa, against the Iowa State Cyclones on March 20, followed by a 1 p.m. battle at Kansas on Sunday, March 22. After a brief weeklong break, UCF hits the road once more to close out the month with a dual against Houston on the 28th.

APRIL | 4 Matches | 2 Home | 2 Away

A weekend of competition at USTA will serve as the Knights' home finale, facing Kansas State on Friday, April 3rd, at 6 p.m., followed by a Sunday showdown with Oklahoma State at noon on the 5th.

The Black and Gold will officially conclude their regular season on the road, first facing the Cincinnati Bearcats at 1 p.m. on April 10th, and making the short journey out to the Mountain State to battle WVU in a 10 a.m. contest on the 12th.

POSTSEASON
The Big 12 Championship will be in Orlando this year, for the first time in program history, and the first time Koniecko and his squad have the opportunity to have the postseason home court advantage since the 2021 season, when he eventually brought home the American Athletic Conference crown.

The championship consists of three rounds, with the top eight teams in the conference garnering the opportunity to be crowned champions over three days from April 15-19.

If qualified, the Knights will begin NCAA tournament play in early May, hosted at a selected regional site. The final eight teams standing will travel back to Orlando for the quarterfinals and beyond.
