Men's Golf Travels South for the West Bay Collegiate

by Alex Clough

ORLANDO - The Knights will stay in state for the first time this season, traveling to Estero, Florida, for the Island at West Bay Collegiate Invitational.

The two-day tournament, scheduled for October 6-7, will be hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University. This will be the first year of the tournament, as last year's competition was cancelled due to Hurricane Milton.

West Bay Club presents an 18-hole, par 72 course, stretching 6,960 yards, just off the Intracoastal in scenic southwest Florida.

With a total of 12 schools competing, UCF will face stiff competition from teams such as South Florida, Elon, Stetson, and Florida Atlantic.

In their most recent tournament, the Ironwood Classic, the Black and Gold took home second place, finishing 15-under-par as a team. Hans Risvaer (seven-under) led the charge, but Chase Haygood (five-under), Camden Goldknopf (one-under), and Clemente Silva (even-par) also contributed to the team's success with strong performances in Greenville.

Heading into their fourth tournament of the season, the Knights aim to carry that momentum into Estero and continue building confidence as the fall schedule intensifies. With Risvaer finding rhythm early, Haygood’s consistency, and the supporting cast rounding into form, UCF is beginning to show signs of a team that can compete week after week.

Qualigying

Because of the quick turnaround, there wasn't time to hold qualifying for the event. The criteria below were taken into consideration when the picks were made.

All spots were coaches’ picks:
