UCF at Baylor Slated for Noon ET Kick on ESPNU

by Ken Landis

ORLANDO – The UCF football team will start November with a noon ET kickoff, visiting Baylor in Waco this coming Saturday on ESPNU. The time and TV designation was announced by the Big 12 Conference and its television partners Sunday morning as part of a six-day selection window.

The contest will be UCF’s first trip to Waco and the third all-time meeting between the Knights and Bears. The two previous meetings each represented milestone moments for UCF, as the first meeting was the Black and Gold’s triumph at the 2014 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, beating Baylor 52-42 for the program’s first New Year’s Six Bowl victory. The second meeting was UCF’s first home game in league play as part of the Big 12 Conference. The Bears got the better of the Knights that day, topping UCF 36-35.

UCF is coming off its bye week after putting on a high-scoring display on Homecoming, beating West Virginia 45-13. The defense recorded eight sacks in the contest and was one of just four occurrences in UCF’s FBS history in which the defense tallied seven sacks or more.

Entering the contest against Baylor, UCF sits sixth in the nation in passing defense, 16th in total defense and 16th in scoring defense.

The Bears enter Saturday’s tilt sitting fifth in the nation in passing offense and are in search of snapping a two-game losing skid. Sitting at 4-4, Baylor boasts a ranked win over No. 17/16 SMU, topping the Mustangs 48-45 in two overtimes on Sep. 6. Their other victories include a thrilling one-point win over Kansas State, a road win in Stillwater against Oklahoma State and a non-conference win against Samford.

Saturday’s game will be the first time UCF is on ESPNU this season. The Knights played on ESPNU six times during head coach Scott Frost’s first tenure with the Black and Gold, posting a 4-2 record.
