ATLANTA, Ga. – The Knights’ prolific goal-scoring tandem of Lilian Ricol and Clarence Awoudor linked up once again for a second-half tally as the UCF men’s soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw with Georgia State at the GSU Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.
The effort ensured the Black and Gold’s streak of unbeaten results reaches six straight dating back to Oct. 4, a span during which the squad has picked up 11 points in the Sun Belt table to ensure it remains in fourth place entering the league’s late slate of matchups Sunday evening.
A trio of stops by senior goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz helped keep the match scoreless while the Knights searched for their offensive rhythm throughout the first 45 minutes.
The Valencia, Spain, native went 3-for-4 on the afternoon in the aggregate, posting his ninth match with one or fewer goals surrendered through his first 14 starts this season. Muñoz also saw his season goals-against average dip to 1.21 while his save percentage climbed further to .702.
The Panthers struck first in the 68th minute, a score that was quickly answered by Ricol in the 71st to level the score at one goal apiece.
Ricol’s ninth goal of the season was once again created by Awoudor, as the latter sent a free kick into the 18-yard box that was redirected past the Panthers goalkeeper by the former.
The French forward’s latest score, his fourth in his last two games after netting his first career hat trick against James Madison Wednesday evening, moved him to within one of West Virginia’s Pablo Pozos (10) for the conference lead, while Awoudor extended his nation-leading assist total to 13 this fall.
Sunday’s score also marked the sixth time Awoudor registered an assist on a goal by Ricol this season.
