Awoudor, Muñoz Sweep Sun Belt Offensive, Defensive Player of the Week Awards

ORLANDO – After helping their squad to one of its most crucial wins of the 2025 campaign, a pair of Knights have been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference for their efforts.

Senior midfielder Clarence Awoudor and senior goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz have swept the Sun Belt’s weekly awards, garnering respective conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors after the UCF men’s soccer team shut out then-No. 11 Georgia Southern, 3-0, Oct. 10.

The weekly honors mark the first two bestowed to the Knights this season and mark the second time since the program joined the Sun Belt Conference that the Black and Gold have won both awards in the same week.

Awoudor earns his first career weekly conference recognition after facilitating two of the Knights’ three scores against the Eagles, recording assists on goals by Lilian Ricol and Claudel N’goubou.

His effort represented his second consecutive multi-assist match and his fourth such showing of the season, pushing his season assist total to a new personal single-season career high nine.

Awoudor now enters Tuesday night’s action against Bradley the national leader in both total assists and assists per game (0.90) and ranks among conference leaders in shots per game (2.60, 4th), points per game (1.30, T-5th), and total points (13, T-6th).

Muñoz garners his second career Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, and his first since 2023, as well as his third career conference weekly recognition, joining his American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor Sept. 5, 2022.

The Valencia, Spain, native made a pair of saves in the win over the Eagles, including a highlight-reel diving stop with four minutes to play, to secure his second consecutive shutout, his fourth clean sheet of the season and the 11th of his collegiate career.

His 11 shutouts rank ninth most on the UCF all-time list, just one behind Didier Mendard’s 12 (1989-93), and his career 1.23 goals-against average is good for seventh best in program history as well.

UCF’s shutout against Georgia Southern represented the program’s first clean sheet against a ranked foe since the Knights blanked then-No. 9 SMU, 2-0, March 13, 2021, and the Black and Gold also recorded back-to-back shutout wins for the first time since Sept. 29–Oct. 7, 2023.

Muñoz and Awoudor will look to lead their squad to its third straight win and fifth of the season against Bradley Tuesday evening. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from the UCF Soccer Complex and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
