GREENVILLE, N.C. - With a history of strong performances in Greenville, the UCF men’s golf team continued the trend with a second-place outing at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic. The squad authored a brilliant third round, carding a 281 (seven-under-par) to maintain the Knights’ runner-up finish.
Across the three rounds, the Black and Gold scored a 849 (15-under-par), separating themselves at the top of the field, trailing only the hosts East Carolina.
Consistent faces led the charge through the two days of play, as Hans Risvaer finished fourth overall with a seven-under-par scorecard (209), followed closely by fellow Knights Chase Haygood, who turned in a 211 (five-under-par).
Haygood has proved to be a solid force in the lineup, shooting under par in each round of play. The pair was joined by William & Mary transfer Camden Goldkopf as Knights to conclude the competition under par.
The Florida native’s second round in the morning session today propelled him to a one-under-par (215) score and 21st-place finish.
After a disappointing second round, Clemente Silva bounced back in the afternoon, carding a 70 (two-under-par) to keep the junior even-par overall and in a respectable 27th-place on the leaderboard.
First-year Knight Jakob Hejlek battled throughout, though he couldn’t find his footing as he shot a 226 (10-over-par). Playing as an individual, Palmer Haynes hovered around even-par through most of the two-day tournament, eventually finishing with a 224 (eight-over-par).
