Thorsen serves as the only collegiate athlete on the entire Danish roster headed to Shanghai. She joins a talented squad that includes five rowers who represented Denmark at the 2024 Olympics, competing in other boats such as the Women's Pair (W2-) and Single Sculls (W1-).
A senior at UCF, Thorsen becomes the first Knight to compete at the Senior World Championships while still actively rowing at the collegiate level.
She follows in the footsteps of former UCF standouts Viktorija Senkute and Julie Poulsen. Senkute, who made history last summer by becoming the first Knight to individually medal at the Olympics, is a four-time Worlds competitor, with her best finish coming in 2022 when she won the Women’s Single Sculls Final B.
Poulsen, a two-time World Championship participant with the Danish National Team, previously rowed in the same W4- boat as Thorsen will now occupy. She competed alongside Senkute at the event in both 2022 and 2023.
The Danish National Team began its training camp on August 30 and will depart for Shanghai, China, on September 15. The 2025 Senior World Rowing Championships will run from September 21–28, featuring more than 1,000 of the world’s top rowers and coaches from 53 countries and regions.
The Women’s Four heats begin on September 22 at 11:47 a.m., with semifinals scheduled for September 24 between 2:51 and 2:57 p.m. Depending on their placement, the Danish crew will advance to Final A, B or C.
Denmark’s 14-athlete roster includes eight rowers making their World Championship debut with Thorsen among them.
