by James Warnick

ORLANDO – With training for the 2025 season having opened earlier in the week, the UCF women’s soccer team will host Jacksonville in a preseason exhibition on Sunday.

The contest, which will mark the first of two preseason scrimmages for the Black and Gold, will begin at 5 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. Admission to the exhibition will be free of charge and open to the public.

Sunday’s scrimmage will mark the first chance for fans to check out the 2025 Knights. UCF welcomes back six starters from last year’s squad as well as 13 letterwinners. The team also ushers in 12 newcomers, with eight transfers and four freshmen.

Head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak is back for her 13th season at the helm of UCF women's soccer. Roberts Sahaydak is an Olympic gold medalist, World Cup champion and two-time NCAA champion. She is also a four-time conference coach of the year and has led the Knights to five NCAA Tournament appearances during her time in Orlando.

This year will mark UCF’s third season of competition in the Big 12 Conference. The Knights went 3-6-6 a season ago and 1-5-4 in Big 12 play. In the Black and Gold’s inaugural year in the Big 12 in 2023, the Knights posted a 10-7-1 record and finished sixth in conference play with a 5-4-1 league clip.

Following Sunday’s action, UCF will conclude its preseason exhibition slate by heading to Coral Gables to face Miami on Friday, Aug. 8 at 2:30 p.m.

The Black and Gold will officially kick-off their 2025 campaign at UAB on Thursday, Aug. 14. The Knights’ 2025 home opener will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 when Florida Atlantic comes to town for a 6 p.m. start.
