ORLANDO - From Frisco, Texas to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Orlando, Jaden Nixon has taken a college football journey defined by growth, versatility, and high expectations.
A graduate of Lone Star High School, Nixon began his collegiate career at Oklahoma State, where he compiled 500 rushing yards on 110 carries across three seasons while also contributing as a return specialist. After the 2023 season, he then transferred to Western Michigan, where he broke out in 2024 with 921 rushing yards on 143 carries and 12 touchdowns, earning First Team All-MAC honors. Now, he’s arrived at UCF for his redshirt-senior season, ready to make his mark in the Big 12.
This summer has brought Nixon some preseason national recognition. He was named to two major award watch lists: the Maxwell Award, which honors the top player in college football, and the Paul Hornung Award, given to the most versatile player in the country. Being selected as one of only 80 candidates for the Maxwell Award highlights the spotlight Nixon has earned heading into the season.

Nixon’s arrival comes at an important time for UCF, which continues to build on its tradition of explosive running backs. Nixon joins a backfield led by senior Myles Montgomery, forming a dynamic duo set to lead the Knights’ rushing attack after the departure of R.J. Harvey, one of the greatest to ever don the Black and Gold.
With 1,419 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns across his college career, Nixon brings a veteran presence and proven production to a young roster featuring nearly 70 new players. His standout performances at Western Michigan included a 189-yard outing against Bethune-Cookman and a 92-yard touchdown run at Kent State, showcasing both big-play ability and consistency.
As camp kicked off last week, Nixon shared his mindset for the season. He acknowledged the challenge of building chemistry on a roster filled with new faces but emphasized that success will come from unity and shared effort.
