ORLANDO – As the program readies for its third go-around as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, the UCF men’s soccer team has announced three new additions to its 2025 signing class joining the program this fall, Jeremiah ‘Jem’ Hewlett, Finn Calloway and Mateus Dejesus.
Jeremiah ‘Jem’ Hewlett – Freshman Defender – Bristol, England – Southampton Football Club
Hewlett joins the Knights on the heels of extensive high-level international experience, highlighted by 49 career matches played between the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2.
He scored six goals and added a pair of assists with the Premier League squads, and was named to the U18 Team of the Season for the 2021-22 slate while also helping his teams to the U18 Premier South Championship in 2021-22 and Premier League 2 Championship in 2022-23.
“I chose UCF because this program gave me an opportunity to escape my comfort zone and elevate my career both on and off the pitch,” Hewlett said.
Hewlett is also the nephew of former Bristol City F.C. midfielder Matt Hewlett, who made 127 league appearances with nine goals scored.
Finn Calloway – Freshman Midfielder – Birmingham, Ala. – Mountain Brook High School
Calloway joins UCF alum Lucca Dourado as the second Knight to connect the Black and Gold with Birmingham Legion this year, as the incoming freshman has already made his professional debut for the club with a pair of appearances in the U.S. Open Cup in April 2024 and March 2025.
He was signed to a USL Academy contract in January 2024 after winning a state championship with Mountain Brook High School in 2022 and earning a First Team All-Metro selection. Calloway also spent four years with Alabama FC ECNL, earning First Team All-Southeast Conference honors in 2022 and an ECNL National selection game at a 2022 showcase.
“I decided to come to UCF because I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to play for the school’s prestigious soccer program and amazing coaching staff,” he said.
Mateus Dejesus – Freshman Defender – Osceola, Ind. – Penn High School
Dejesus, like Calloway, also brings prior professional experience to UCF, having previously signed a USL Academy deal with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in July 2024.
In addition to his time with the Rowdies, Dejesus has also played with Tampa Bay United, and previous earned First Team All-Region honors during his high school tenure in 2022.
“I chose to continue my academic and athletic career at UCF because the program boasts an amazing reputation and coaching staff,” he said.
