ORLANDO – A strong finish to the 2025 campaign placed the UCF softball team among the best in the season’s final national top 25 rankings.
As announced by the publication Tuesday, June 10, D1Softball.com ranked the Knights No. 24 in its final top 25, marking the second time UCF saw itself among D1Softball’s weekly rankings in 2025.
The Black and Gold earned their season high No. 21 ranking by D1Softball after taking two of three from then-No. 4 Arizona in Tucson March 7-9, and were slotted No. 25 by Softball America for their efforts as well.
UCF was joined in D1Softball’s final poll by fellow Big 12 Conference mates Texas Tech (No. 2), Arizona (No. 19) and Oklahoma State (No. 23), and saw eight other 2025 opponents represented as well, in Texas (No. 1), Oklahoma (No. 3), Florida (No. 7), Clemson (No. 9), Florida State (No. 12), Texas A&M (No. 14), Liberty (No. 15) and Georgia (No. 16).
The Knights jumped into the season’s final top 25 after a 3-3 showing in postseason play, toppling Utah in the Big 12 Conference tournament first round to earn the first Big 12 tournament win in program history before earning a pair of wins in the NCAA Austin Regional over Eastern Illinois and then-No. 25 Michigan.
UCF’s win over the Wolverines gave the program its single-season program record-tying seventh ranked win of the year as well as its fourth victory over a 2025 conference champion, joining winning efforts over Clemson (ACC Tournament), Florida Atlantic (AAC Regular Season) and North Florida (ASUN Tournament).
Michigan earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 showing through the Big Ten Championship, claiming its second straight tournament title with wins over Wisconsin (3-2), then-No. 4 Oregon (5-0), Purdue (4-2) and then-No. 9 UCLA (2-0).
This season also marks the first time the Knights have been ranked in a final national top 25 poll since 2022, when the squad earned the No. 16 spot from ESPN/USA Softball and No. 14 from USA Today/NFCA on the heels of the first NCAA Regional championship and NCAA Super Regional berth in program history.
