ORLANDO - The UCF rowing team has jumped one spot to No. 14 in this week’s CRCA poll following a dominant win at the Big 12 Championship this past Sunday.
The jump to No. 14 in this week’s poll marks the highest in program history that the team has been ranked as a whole. The crew sits at 1403 points in the poll this week, continuing the historic rise in votes.
The Knights continue to set the standards as they have been ranked in the top 25 all season and the top 15 for the past seven consecutive weeks.
The rankings follow this weekend’s event where the Black and Gold claimed their first-ever Big 12 title in rowing. The Knights won every race with open water to spare with the largest margin of victory being 16.8 seconds during the First 8+ race. The crew finished with a time of 06:22.086, marking their fastest time all season.
With the Big 12 win, UCF punched their ticket to the NCAA Championships securing an automatic bid. Fellow automatic bids include Boston University, Stanford, Northeastern, Oregon State, Rhode Island, Yale, Washington and Fairfield. There are 13 remaining squads to be announced receiving at-large bids.
The Knights will look to continue their momentum at the NCAA Championship beginning on May 30 in West Windsor, N.J.
