Women's Golf Closes Out Veritex Bank Collegiate In Fifth Place

DALLAS, Texas- The UCF women’s golf team wrapped up its regular-season slate with a top-five finish Tuesday afternoon at the Veritex Bank Collegiate, as the Knights recorded a team score of 879 on the Trinity Forest Golf Club green.

Molly Smith led the Black and Gold on the player leaderboard for the second-consecutive event, shooting four-under-par to earn a total score of 212. The sophomore authored five birdies in the first and second rounds of play and tacked on an additional three on the final day to collect 13 birdies on the event, a season-high for the Massachuesets native. Smith went bogey-free in the final round’s back nine, earning her third top-five finish this season as she tied for third. 

Mila Jurine and One Kashima were the next Knights on the board, each earning a top-ten finish with an overall score of 218, just two-over-par. Jurine recorded her best round on Tuesday, carding a two-under-par score of 70 to move her up nine slots from the previous round into ninth place. Kashima, competing as an individual, carded 10 birdies to earn her best finish as a Knight, tying with Jurine in the ninth slot.

Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham, landed her fourth top-20 finish of the season, shooting three-over-par for a total score of 219. The junior recorded four birdies on Tuesday’s back nine, going one under par in the final day, moving up five spots to tie for 11th.

Jamie Camero finished tied for 50th, earning a tournament-best score, 73, only one-over-par in the second round. Katie Poots followed, tying for 60th.

UP NEXT

The Knights will stay in the Lone Star State where they will begin postseason play at the Big 12 Championship in Houston, Texas. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, April 15 at the Houston Oaks Country Club and will conclude the following Thursday.
