ORLANDO - The UCF rowing team is set to travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn. to compete in the Rocky Top Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The Knights will be one of six crews to be a part of the inaugural Rocky Top Invitational. This weekend will mark the first time that the program will travel to Oak Ridge as members of the Big 12. The crews participating in the race include the I Eight, II Eight, I Four and II Four.
UCF will be competing against three ranked opponents in No. 5 University of Tennessee, Knoxville, No. 14 Duke University and once again No. 20 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The other crews include Clemson University and the University of Minnesota.
The weekend slate will begin with heats on Friday afternoon starting at 2:30 p.m. The Black and Gold take the water for the first time at 3:30 p.m. with the II Four racing first. The I Four will hit the water next at 4:00 p.m. The Eights will compete next with the II Eight at 4:30 p.m. and the I Eight at 5:00 p.m.
Finals are slated to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights begin their day at least 45 minutes later with the first II Four race beginning at 9:45 a.m.
