ORLANDO - Multiple event wins and senior day festivities highlighted UCF track and field's final day of home competition at the UCF track and field complex, wrapping up the Knights Invite in style
Seniors Honored:
Three Knights secured top-10 finishes to open action on the day, with Natalia Madison once again leading the way in the triple jump. One of five seniors honored today, the Palm Beach Gardens native followed up an event win in the long jump yesterday with a second-place finish following her 12.70m mark.
Sophomore Alexis Waller followed shortly behind in fourth with a season-best 12.41m jump, while Angelina Horn rounded out the field in eighth with her 12.05m performance.
UCF went three for three in the prelims of the 100m hurdles, advancing Y’Vette Harris (13.50), Adaobi Tabugbo (13.75) and Ese Awusa (13.90).
Yvone Sandui authored the day’s most impressive performance, finishing third in the 800m with the third-fastest time in program history of 2:06.72, a personal record for the Kenya native and Norfolk State transfer.
Two more Knights punched their tickets into the finals, this time in the 100m. Senior I’Asia Wilson placed third with a strong 11.58 in the fourth heat, while Ese Awusa punched her second ticket with a time of 11.77 in eighth.
In the 400m, sophomore Janiah Pulliams dropped her personal best by over a second, clocking a 53.48 in the second heat to take the runner-up spot. The North Carolina now ranks seventh in program history and is one of nine athletes to go sub 54 seconds.
A stacked 100m final saw Wilson claim fourth with a strong time of 11.51, continuing to push into NCAA qualifying range.
