ORLANDO – The UCF women’s golf team was selected to compete as the No. 6 seed in the Charlottesville Regional, the NCAA announced Wednesday in conjunction with the Golf Channel.
The three-day event begins Monday, May 5 at Birdwood Golf Course hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville, Virgina. A total of 72 teams and 36 individual participants have been selected for regional competition as the five other host schools include – Ohio State, Arizona State, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech.
After 54 holes, the top-5 teams and low individual (not on an advancing team) advance to the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. May 16-21.
This will be UCF’s 19th regional appearance and the 10th of the last 14 seasons. Since head coach Emily Marron took over the program ahead of the 2012-13 season, the Knights have either qualified as a team or sent an individual to every NCAA regional. Wednesday’s selection marks the sixth consecutive time the Knights have made an NCAA regional as a team (excluding the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season).
This season, the Knights have recorded seven top-5 finishes tying the record from last season for the most since the 2023-14 season.
Last season, Marron’s squad made it to the NCAA regional championship in Bermuda Run, N.C. hosted by Wake Forest, where the Knights finished in 9th place with a score of 885 (+21).
