Men's Golf Sets Sights on Big 12 Championship

by Aiden Kocol

ORLANDO - The UCF men’s golf team kicks off postseason play this week at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., in the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, April 22, and wrap up on Thursday, April 24.

The Knights head into the tournament off a sixth-place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational, where they concluded the regular season with a 17-over-par finish, earning a team score of 875. Sophomore, Hans Risvaer steps into the postseason strong, wrapping up at the Tar Heel Invitational with a top-ten finish thanks to a scorecard that showed nine birdies and an even-par score of 210.

This will be the first Big 12 Men’s Tournament the Southern Hills Country Club has hosted since 2018, welcoming the championship three other times prior. The tournament will be held on the club’s Championship Course, established in 1936, which spans 7,151 yards and plays as a par 70.

The Knights will look to bounce back this tournament after their inaugural Big 12 tournament in 2024, where, after completing four rounds of play, the squad finished in 13th with a team score of 1,195, 43-over par.

The Tournament will consist of 72 holes with the teams competing in 36 holes on Tuesday, followed by 18 holes on both Wednesday and Thursday. Monday's pairings are based on the Clippd national rankings, while seedings for the rest of the championship will be determined by the standings from the previous day.

The Black and Gold will be joined on the green by three teams ranked amongst the top-40: Arizona State (5), Texas Tech (33) and Colorado (34). Cincinnati, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State and West Virginia will round out the field.

UCF's lineup will feature Chase Haygood, Lucas Dutartre, Hans Risvaer, Jakob Stubhaug, Clemente Silva and Palmer Haynes (sub). The 6 spots were coaches picks determined by all the data points attached below.
