NEW YORK CITY – Former UCF baseball player and current Seattle Mariner Dylan Moore was named the American League Player of the Week. By winning the award, the 2024 Gold Glove winner became the first UCF alum to be named player of the week at the Major League level.

Moore appeared in six games for the Mariners last week. The team posted a 4-2 record in that time, thanks in part to Moore’s play. In 26 plate appearances, he recorded 10 hits, five RBIs and three home runs. His best performance came on April 15 against the Cincinnati Reds when he recorded two home runs and three RBIs in an 11-7 Mariners win.

Moore, who played his junior and senior seasons at UCF in 2014 and 2015, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the seventh round in 2015 (198th overall selection). During his time in Orlando, Moore was tabbed a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Conference honoree—winning first team honors in 2015 and second team accolades in 2014. He was also named to Perfect Game’s Midseason All-America Team in 2015 as well as The American’s Preseason All-Conference team that same season. He paced the Knights in average (.333), hits (80), RBI (45), slugging percentage (.542), on-base percentage (.417) and stolen bases (14) during his senior year.

Moore is currently one of Seattle’s top hitters on the season with a .316 average and a .967 OPS. He also has five home runs, a double, seven RBIs, 12 runs scored and five stolen bases.
